Getting started
Signing up a business
How bars, restaurants, venues, tour operators, guides, studios, food vendors, transport and media sign up, with or without their place, and what DO868 checks.
A business on DO868 has a page, like an organizer or an entertainer: its events, photos, socials and followers. A business that is also its place, such as a bar, a restaurant, a club or a studio, can have the place as part of its page: one page with its address, map, directions, types and every event at the place.
Signing up
- On the sign-up page, under What best describes you?, choose I run a place or a business people visit or book.
- Choose What kind of business is it?: for example Bar, restaurant or club, Tour operator, Guide, Studio / classes, Food vendor, Transport or Media.
- For a kind of business that can have its place (a bar, a studio), answer Do you have a physical place?
- Yes: search under Is your place already on DO868?. If it's there, press This is my place and tell us how we can check it's yours. If it isn't, press No, add my place and give its island, area, address and what kind of place it is.
- No: you go to your customers, or use other places. You get the page only; you can link the places you use (a jetty, a trail, a market) later under Your places.
- If DO868 already made a page for your business, use Is your business already on DO868? Find it and press This is mine: see Claiming your page.
- Give your business's public name: the name people know it by. It's shown on DO868 and is never taken from your own name.
- Fill in your own name (kept private), email and password, and press Create account (or Create account and send claim).
You can also sign up with Google or Facebook: you then choose all of this on the portal's home page right after signing in.
Prefer us to do it? Press Or ask our team to set it up and send a short request instead. No account is made, and the DO868 team sets up your page and gets in touch.
What DO868 checks
- New business pages are checked by our team before they're shown prominently, and events from new accounts are checked before they go live (see Review and publishing).
- Your place: a place you add, or a place you claim, becomes part of your page only once our team approves it. Until then it shows as waiting for review under Your places. We may contact you to confirm, and we email you when it's decided.
- Nothing goes to our team until you confirm your email address, using the link we sent you.
After it's approved
Your page and your place are one page on DO868, and the place's own address opens your page. Under Your page, Your places, Your place you can keep its address, area, island and types up to date. Changes show straight away; the DO868 team is told about each one and may check it with you. For its name, photos or contact details, write to [email protected].
