Repeating events

Weekly, monthly and other repeating events, saving changes to one date or many, and making an existing event repeat.

A repeating event is a series of dates with the same details. Every date gets its own page and web address on DO868.

Setting up a repeat

On a new event, use Repeats:

  • How often: Daily, Weekly, Monthly, or On dates I choose.
  • Every: for example every week, every other week, or every 3 months.
  • Weekly: tick the days. The day of the first date is always included.
  • Monthly: on the same date each month (the 15th), on the same weekday (the third Saturday), or on the last of a weekday (the last Friday). A month without that date is skipped.
  • On dates I choose: add each date with + Add a date. They all start at the same time as the first.
  • Ends: on a date, after a number of dates (2 to 60), or No end date (dates for the next 6 months).

The form lists every date it will create. Untick any date to leave it out; the first date can't be left out (change the start date instead). A series can have up to 60 dates over 6 months.

When the other dates appear

  • Trusted organizers: every date is created and published straight away.
  • Everyone else: the series is reviewed once, as the first date. When it's approved, the other dates are created and published too. Until then your events list says the other dates are added when it's approved.

Changing a series

Open any date in the series. Under This event repeats, choose where your changes go in Save changes to:

  • Only this date
  • This and the following dates
  • All dates in the series

The other dates get the same details. A new time moves them by the same amount, and each date keeps its own day and its own line-up. If your events are reviewed, changes to live dates are reviewed first, as usual.

Making an existing event repeat

On an event's edit page, find Make this repeat and choose Choose how it repeats. The event stays as the first date, with its web address and line-up. The new dates copy the event as it was last saved, so save any other changes first. The line-up isn't copied to the new dates.

  • Trusted organizers: the other dates are created now.
  • A live event that's reviewed: it stays live, and the new dates are reviewed once, then added.
  • A draft: the other dates are created when the event is approved.

You can't make a past event repeat (make a new event for the next dates), and an event that's already part of a series can't get a second repeat.

Removing a date

Once a series is created there's no button to remove a single date. Get in touch and we'll take it down.
